WATCH OUT, HUGE MONSTER! oO

besides the popular "why do you love foxes"- question, the most popular question people ask me is "can you give me tips on drawing foxes?" or something like that.

well...here we go. a long long long promised, crappy tutorial about drawing foxes. (btw. while browsing through dA i realized that there are - as always - a dozen wolf tutorials while you just rarely find good fox tutorials...bla. i love it to be a rebel :P )

cave: this tutorial doesn´t show the basics of drawing, it just give you tips about drawing foxes.

hopefully it can help you here and there....

several things i have to mention:
the poses and headshots were inspired by natural fox photographies to keep the images anatomically as correct as possible.

the photos are (c) to their much respected photographers.
unfortunately i wasn´t able to find out those. if you know some of these photographers, please tell me so i can add their names down here. thank you :)

tutorial (c) moi.

several inspiration is also taken from
"carving wolves, foxes and coyotes" by desiree hajny
and from
"der rotfuchs" by fritz koenen

EDIT:
okay...at first thank you very much for the support, i was like "woah, geez! D:" when i came online today and suddenly i got about 1,000 messages more...thank you guys, i hope the tut can be useful to you :)

but its not the reason of my EDIT. :P
after it happens now several times, i thought i type it down here once again.
yes. i hate sparkledogs. please...stop whining now, like "omfg, you hate them, how dare you, you´re so ignorant!!1!1eleven" ...ignorant? no. i just don´t like them. get over it

once again:
fantastic characters - doesn´t matter if hybrids of thousands of critters in it, are okay for me - as long as it can be loosely recognized as an animal and not a complete ugly monster-mutant-thingie.
a little tatoo, a single collar is okay too - but no overload of earrings, pendants and so on.
characters with five colours or six or seven or eight are okay as well - but not twenty or thirty, including extreme neon pink or green or something like that.
little fluffy features here and there - is also okay - but i do not mean hyperfluffiness.

if your character is a dog with a little sign, thats okay - i never said that this makes your character a sparkledog. the thing i despise are those mentioned omguberhyper-designs, which makes your eyes bleed and are just plain kitschy....

less is more. thats the essential thing i tried to say. and at the end, its also a matter of taste.
no offense to you or any other people. its just my opinion. i respect yours, so please respect mine - nuff said. :P

Great work. I particularly like the part about over designing a character. And I agree that most such over done things will kill a trade for me in a hurry, they don't make fabric in most of the colors people use on the over done characters.

Actually, I find this to be quite helpful :3 I'm just a doodler and like drawing from time to time, but at some point I'd like to making drawing and painting a hobby. And since foxes are among my favorite animals, I would like to know how to draw them (chibi-fied or cartoon-like and realistic). Once I find some spare milliseconds in my busy life, I will definately make use of this tutorial you've provided for us. Thank ya much! ^_^

I was thinking of going bigger...really big, like freak show big. Like 47FFF. So large that other, smaller breasts would want to orbit them. ~Cecilia "Weeds"
