Just a random unintentionally "comparative" question, but, did you happen to have ever read/ listen/ watch the opera The Mikado? James Joyce mentions it in A portrait of the Artist as a Young man, and the name reminded me of your ongoing story line. However, upon further research I have found the opera has absolutely nothing in common, as far as I can tell xD
