The Oriental Whip Snake (like the other species of the Ahaetulla-genus) might be some of the most distinctive looking serpents you can come across; if it wasn't for its extremely long and thin physique already, its keyhole shaped pupils are what make these snakes truly unmistakeable and unique - combined with their head shapes (in Thai, their name literally means "Green Snake with Gecko Head" while in German, it is called Baumschnüffler, which means "Tree Sniffer"), it is a feature that enables them to see with binocular vision. The whole Ahaetulla-gang is rear-fanged and thus, they do possess venom - though it is considered harmless to humans.
